DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF AN AUTOMATIC INDUSTRIAL CONVEYOR

 

ABSTRACT

This machine is basically works on the principle of Single Slider Crank Mechanism which is the heart of this machine and it converts rotary motion into a reciprocating motion. Here Fabricated the conveyor using crank mechanism machine, this project can be utilized in industry. This machine makes use of transfer the product from one place to another place with the help of conveyor, the conveyor rotation is based on the crank mechanism. This project deals with the industrial products are moving from one place to another place in timing by using crank mechanism. This device is very useful for material handling purpose in engineering industries, where automation plays an important role. The materials, which are to be transported from one place to another place, in a simple and cost effective way by using this conveyor. The specialty of this is that Some tilting levers are placed on the top of the conveyor. . These levers cause the actual movement of the material to be handled from one place to another place in a faster way and also in the stipulated period. This device overcomes the shortfalls of the existing system, i.e thee manual effort can be completely avoided by using this device.

 

 

CHAPTER ONE
1.1                                          INTRODUCTION
There has been a serious demand for intermittent movement of packages in the industries right from the start. Though the continuous movement is more or less important in the same field the sporadic motion has become essential .The objective of our project is to produce a mechanism that delivers this stop and move motion using mechanical linkages. The advantage of our system over the conveyor system is that the system has a time delay between moving packages and this delay can be used to introduce any alterations in the package or move the package for any other purpose and likewise. While in conveyor system such actions cannot be performed unless programmed module is used to produce intermittent stopping of the belt which basically is costly. The prototype design requires electric motor, shafts and the frame of which the frame and platform on which the packages are moved is fabricated. All the links are being made of Aluminium which reduces the weight of the whole system including the head which has a direct contact with the boxes being moved. The system is expected to move as heavy packages as 2 to 3kgs approximately.

1.2                                        OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT
The main objective of this work is to fabricate a portable industrial conveyor using Crank Mechanism which is the heart of this machine and it converts rotary motion into a reciprocating motion. Here Fabricated the conveyor using crank mechanism machine, this project can be utilized in industry. This machine makes use of transfer the product from one place to another place with the help of conveyor, the conveyor rotation is based on the crank mechanism

1.3                                                 SCOPE OF THE PROJECT
Which is the heart of this machine and it converts rotary motion into a reciprocating motion. Here Fabricated the conveyor using crank mechanism machine, this project can be utilized in industry. Industries in worldwide use conveyors as a mechanism to transport boxes from place. This mechanism do not includes strong belts, pulleys and heavy motors to rotate the pulley to move the conveyor. As an alternative to this conveyor type, more simple and comfortable machine using four bar mechanism can be used. This box shifting machine helps in transfer of boxes smoothly by use of four bars with a simple arrangement. The four bar mechanism includes four links. One link is fixed and the other links act as crank, follower and connecting rod. The rotary motion of the crank is transferred to the follower by using connecting rod and is converted to the same rotary motion. This machine requires an electric motor to provide input to the system.

1.4                                         SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PROJECT
Conveyor is the best efficient continuous transportation equipment for coal mine, compared with other transport equipment (such as locomotives), it has the advantages of long transport distance, large transport capacity and continuous transportation. And it is reliable, easy to automate and centralize control. Especially for high-yielding and efficient mine, conveyor has become the coal mining mechanical and electrical integration technology and equipment key equipment. Nowadays, the domestic conveyor goes into a high-speed development stage, with a huge demand. In some areas belt conveyors have gradually begun to replace locomotives and motor transport.
1.5                                                   USES OF THE PROJECT

  • It can easily convey the large volume of materials in no time.
  • Utilized in food processing industries, airports, and various transporting industries.
  • It is cost efficient and has given a relief to the labor efforts.
  • Increases the level of productivity rapidly.
  • It can transport the materials both vertically as well as horizontally.
  • It also helps to stack the transported materials at the end of the production line.
  • It saves the product from getting damaged and also prevent injuries.
  • It is an ingenious way to increase the process of production effectively.
  • It consumes less power and is durable in nature.
  • It can transport the materials in all the directions and proves to be long lasting.

1.7                            LIMITATION AND PROBLEM OF THE PROJECT
Conveyors, although outstanding, are frequently used in industries, but there are also shortcomings. The conveyor future works with the environment high temperature, low temperature conditions, corrosive, radioactive, flammable substances, also one of the goals pursued by the industry. At the same time, if the structure of the conveyor can meet the material handling system automation control on the requirements of a single machine, but also a significant increase in the efficiency of the conveyor.
