ABSTRACT

Lamps generally are used for signaling, as torches, or as general light sources outdoors. Low light level varieties are used for decoration. The term "lamp" is also used more generically to mean a light source, or the enclosure for a light source. A rechargeable table lamp is a portable table stand slighting device used to illuminate broad areas. The design and construction of a rechargeable table lamp was constructed to add more values to existent ones, which is the aim of this work

CHAPTER ONE
1.0                                                        INTRODUCTION
1.1                                           BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
A lamp is a portable lighting device or mounted light fixture used to illuminate broad areas. Lamps may also be used for signaling, as torches, or as general light sources outdoors. Low light level varieties are used for decoration. The term "lamp" is also used more generically to mean a light source, or the enclosure for a light source. Examples are glass pane enclosed streetlights, or the housing for the top lamp and lens section of a lighthouse (Douglas, 2014). The introductions of the manual timer control switch which is introduced to serve as off and on, to make the rechargeable valuable, durable, increase the efficiency and life span of the battery. Lamps were used by the ancients in augury. The only known representation of an ancient Egyptian lamps probably is not much different from those spoken of by John the Evangelist in John 18:3 from the New Testament, where the party of men who went out of Jerusalem to apprehend Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane is described as being provided “with lamps and torches (Elvik, 2015). Lamps in ancient China were made of silk, paper, or animal skin with frames made of bamboo or wood. One of the earliest descriptions of lamp is found in records from Khorana, which describes a "mounting lamp" made of white paper (Schwab et al., 2012).
The simplest technology used is the candle lantern. Candles give only a faint light, and must be protected from wind to prevent flickering or complete extinguishment. A typical candle lamp is a metal box or cylinder with glass or mica side panels and an opening or ventilated cover on the top. A primitive form of candle lantern, made from white horn and wood and called a lanthorn, was first made in the time of the English king Alfred the Great (849–899) (Schwab et al., 2012).
Rechargeable lights are very useful electrical gadgets and are quite popular, too. During a power failure these portable lights are able to instantly illuminate through battery backup and never allow us to stumble in the darkness. Although you will find a variety of them in different shapes and sizes in the market, but building your own emergency light at home can be a totally different experience. It will not only help you to create a quality design but also will acquaint you to the technical aspects of the unit. Besides, you also get an opportunity to customize the circuit as per your own needs (Schwab et al., 2012).
Rechargeable table lamps are light bulbs that can be recharged, which means that they don't need to be replaced frequently. They come with a rechargeable battery that can store energy and power the bulb when turned on. These bulbs can be used in different settings, including homes, offices, and outdoor environments.  The aim of this work is to build a rechargeable table lamp.

1.2                                          STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
Traditional table lamps have numerous disadvantages such as they are not environmentally friendly, they also use kerosene for operation, they are not portable and finally not cost saving. Rechargeable table lamps have become a popular alternative to traditional lighting options due to their energy efficiency and convenience (Sullivan et al., 2019). Traditional table lamps are more energy-efficient than traditional ones. They use less energy to produce the same amount of light, which can help reduce your electricity bill. Traditional table lamps don't need to be replaced as frequently as traditional bulbs, so you'll save money in the long run. Rechargeable light bulbs are also more environmentally friendly than traditional bulbs. They produce less waste because they don't need to be replaced as frequently. Additionally, Traditional table lamps are often made with materials that can be recycled, which means that they have a smaller environmental footprint. Traditional table lamps are more durable and last longer than traditional ones. They can withstand more wear and tear and are less likely to break. Additionally, rechargeable light bulbs have a longer lifespan, so you won't need to replace them as frequently (Sullivan et al., 2019).   Traditional table lamps are also more portable and flexible than traditional bulbs. They can be used in different settings, including outdoor environments where there may not be access to electricity. Additionally, rechargeable light bulbs are often designed to be portable, which means that they can be easily moved around as needed and thereby increasing productivity.

1.3                                              PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT
The objectives of this work are:

  1. To build a rechargeable table lamp prototype
  2. To help the society by production and illumination of environment
  3. To save energy

1.4                                         SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PROJECT
This device Provides light when the mains lighting fails due to a power cut for any other reasons. Required especially in villages where there are long power cuts.
Basically a battery packed lighting device, the battery backup helps in saving energy which also make it pollution free.

1.5                                                 SCOPE OF THE PROJECT
The scope of this wok covers building a rechargeable table lamp which a type of lighting option that allows you to recharge the bulb instead of replacing it when it burns out. These bulbs contain a rechargeable battery that can be charged using a charging station or mains source.
