This work is on brake failure indicator circuit that constantly monitors the condition of the brake and gives an audio-visual indication. It gives early warning of brake failure while driving. When the brake is applied, the green LED blinks and the piezo buzzer beeps for around one second if the brake system is intact. If the brake fails, the red LED glows and the buzzer stops beeping.
The circuit will work only in vehicles with negative grounding. It also gives an indication of brake switch failure. In hydraulic brake systems of vehicles, a brake switch is mounted on the brake cylinder to operate the rear brake lamps. The brake switch is fluid-operated and doesn’t function if the fluid pressure drops due to leakage. The fluid leakage cannot be detected easily unless there is a severe pressure drop in the brake pedal. This circuit senses the chance of a brake failure by monitoring the brake switch and reminds you of the condition of the brake every time the brake is applied.

1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE PROJECT
The basic function of a brake in a power transmission system is to stop and/or hold the load. There are many reasons to use brakes which are mostly related to improved productivity or safety. Brakes are frequently used to control deceleration, provide accurate positioning, or increase cycle rates, thereby improving productivity.
Almost 40% of accidents occur because of brake failure issues. Now a days the Human life is more precious than anything. So we have to save human life at least the things which are under control of humans. Mostly Human life losts due to the accidents which are occurred in the world. The main reasons for accidents due to over speeding, overtaking, driving from the wrong side, do not give the right indications while changing the directions, distraction in the driving, brake failures, tyre blow out, carelessness of the driver, unknowingly , drink and drive etc. There are many reasons for accidents, but most of them are due to failure of the braking system. The reason for the brake failure is due to poor maintenance, product defects, failure to repair the vehicle in time, and many other reasons. But human safety also plays an important role, so the monitoring of braking accidents is very important in automobiles. Special safety functions are only built into the vehicle occupants, and some functions are to ensure the safety of others. Today, machines are widely controlled by control systems. The main theme of our project is to monitor the braking system all the time. Today, accidents occur due to various reasons. One of the main reasons is brake failure, which is caused by poor maintenance and product defects. In order to protect valuable personnel from accidents, accident monitoring of brakes is very important in automobiles.
With early identification of this condition, we can reduce the accident rate. The project ‘Automobile Brake Failure Indicator’ is the solution to this global issue.
This device keeps an eye on the condition of the brake at regular intervals and provides an audio-visual indication of the situation.
The project includes two LEDs and a piezo buzzer as indicators. Under normal circumstances when the brake is applied, the green LED blinks and the piezo buzzer beeps for a second. However, during brake failure, the red LED glows and the buzzer doesn’t beep).
Providing information about the brake switch failure is another feature of this project.
1.2 PROBLEM STATEMENT
Now a days, accidents are occurring due to lot of reasons, the one of the main reason is brake failure, it caused to due to poor maintenance, improper use and product defect, in order to safe guard the valuable human for accident the accident monitoring of brake is very important issue in automobile. The brake failure indicator circuit is a circuit that monitors constantly of the condition of brakes and provides an audio visual indication.
- AIM AND OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT
The main aim of this study is to build an automatic brake failure indicator. The objectives of the study are:
- To build the system prototype.
- To create a safe braking system with brake failure indicator.
- To provide safety by preventing unnecessary accidents
- To protect lives and properties.
- SCOPE OF THE PROJECT
The scope of this work covers building a break failure indicator using op-amp IC CA3140 (IC2) as a voltage comparator and a timer NE555 (IC3) in a monostable . The system works when the brake is applied in order to slow down or to stop the vehicle the green LED blinks and the piezo buzzer beeps for about one second if the brake system is accurate and working properly. If brake system fails the red LED glows and the buzzer do not beep when the brakes are applied.
- LIMITATION OF THE PROJECT
The project Automobile Brake Failure Indicator is limited to those vehicles with negative grounding, else this project doesn’t work.
- SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PROJECT
Accidents cannot be avoided sometimes but they can sure be prevented by taking some preventive measures. This device will serve as a means of reducing accident rate on our roads.

5.1 CONCLUSION
The project setting can reduce the chance of accidents and prevent casualties. It improves the efficiency of the vehicle, thereby reducing the chance of mechanical system failure. The brake failure indication provides additional capabilities for the driver and ensures damage to life and property. The brake failure indication system is an early warning system. This system can prove to be an advancement in the machinery and automotive industries. The system continuously monitors the condition of the brake cable and alerts the rider before the brake cable is cut. Instructions to the rider are given in the type of audiovisual sign. All components are strictly placed in the unit, thus contributing to the most efficient work of the unit. Therefore, the project has been successfully designed and tested. If the indicator system is implemented in any motor vehicle to prevent accidents, the indicator system will become a new era of vehicle protection systems. There are many devices that can make the vehicle stop under abnormal conditions. But the proposed model can indicate brake failure by mechanical means before any accidents occur, and it can also ensure the safety of people and vehicles.
5.2 RECOMMENDATION
The use of Brake Failure Detection will result in safety of vehicles as well as to avoid Human loss.
The durability and convenience to consumer can be improved by using more advanced systems like Arduino control or Auxiliary Brakes.
Size of project can be reduced by replacing mechanical components with various mechatronics components.
