This system is based on designing and implementation of an Automated Student Result Verification System. It is intended for use in academic environment where students normally come for clearance before collection of their statement of result and subsequently for certificate collection. The findings revealed that students normally come for result clearance through their various departments, and their results are usually checked from the hard copy before issuers of clearance form, the same thing applicable on issuers of IT letter. Also, some of the students are given repeat, while some are withdrawn from the institutions because of poor academic performance. Mistakes occurred at time by the administration off officers in the process of checking these result manually, to rectify this problem led to this research. The variables under consideration here are the students and of course the result sheet. Data were collected using document examination, interviews and through separate oral interview from different departments of the school using the simple random sampling technique. For design, top down design approach under agile software development of Software Development Life Circle were used. For the programming, Visual Basic 6.0 programming language was used and Microsoft Access for the result database management system. A computer system with basic system configurations is used for testing of the software. The student results of various departments were used for test-running the system to ascertain the efficiency and effectiveness of this research work. In conclusion, this software will help admin officers, the secretaries, the SIWES office, and even the school authorities to easily search for particular student information from the database during clearance.

1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
In educational institutions, success is measured by academic performance, or how well a student meets standards set out by government and the institution itself. As result processing goes alongside after school semester examination, there is the need for student to collect their statement of result after the completion of academic session stipulated by the school management. Before the student can be given his or her statement of result, the student has to be cleared in the various departments of the institutions such as: the student department, bursary unit, hostel, library unit, student affairs unit and sports unit. For the purpose of this system, the intended students will be cleared in the department using the propose system. The verification of the student result will be carry out by the admin officer or the secretary in charge of the student department by searching through the record using the student registration number. As it has been fully known initially, clearing the student is done manually by going through the student result files by the admin officer or the secretary. Thus much time is spent flipping and going through the result sheet trying to look out for student record.
1.2 PROBLEM STATEMENT
The role of World Wide Web in the development process of Institution like the Ilorin Comprehensive High School cannot be over emphasized. This stems from the fact that the school still carries out most of it activities using manual method which include the result verification, even if they do, it is too difficult and time wasting. Also in time of fire accident student will not be able to have access to their result. As a result of these challenges I came to conclusion that in order to improve the standard of this great school and the widely spread of the website all these should be done via internet for easy and quick access.
1.3 AIM
This research is aimed at developing Student Result Verification System (SRVS) software, and ensuring that the software installed on a basic system requirement for effective usage.
1.4 OBJECTIVES
These are the stipulated objectives for this research work:
- To build software that will have a good user interface and easy to use.
- To build software that will be connected to student result database.
- To build an automated Student Result Verification System that will be robust and durable.
- To build a system that will integrate carryover list, comprehensive result, withdrawal list and repeat list.
- To build a system that is secure using 128bit cryptology mechanism.
1.5 SIGNIFICANCE OF STUDY
This study is targeted at utilizing the vast potential and benefits of the internet judiciously and effectively (i.e an automated result verification) this will increase the awareness of management towards new innovations, better their correspondence with other institution raise the standard of school as well as it efficiency and to reduce the problems associated with manual results verification in the institution.
1.6 SCOPE OF THE STUDY
This project work is limited to an automated Result verification of Ilorin University.
