1.0 Introduction
1.1 Background of the study
Safety and security of any car is one of the most primary concerns. The increasing risk of stolen vehicles and new ways of burglary have made it crucial to enhance safety. Today’s security systems include immobilizers, Lo-Jack, Viper which are very costly. Thus a cost-effective and fast- reactive security system is needed. Here the design is a prototype of such system which consists of door pin sensors, a microcontroller unit- Arduino Uno board and a SIM300 GSM module. Arduino Uno is the processing and controlling unit of this system which receives and processes the data from all the components. The GSM unit act as an interface between Arduino and user’s mobile and is responsible for communication between them. The mobile phone can be used as a controller from anywhere in the world if the GSM network is available to switch on/ off the system and to send a call to the owner of the car. The door pin sensor detects if any intruder enters the car. If there is a change in door pin sensor value then Arduino will be triggered and send an alert message to the mobile station. By the message sent by the owner, the ignition kill switch will be closed or an hidden camera will be switched on.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Nowadays, car thieves are becoming more organized and advanced, existing in parking garages at home, office, building and store. The security system thus will need to be more advanced than currently have been embedded in the private and public cars. The existing systems which are used are now obsolete, where siren is the only way for alerting the owner which can be easily turned off. Older system does not trigger the alarm if there’s a break in through window. Thus the system triggers an alarm detecting the presence of the person or towing vehicle or opening the door in a specific interval of time and the GSM call to user gets activated.
1.3 Aim and objectives of the study
Nowadays there is common need of security at home, industries and public places. In market various vehicle security systems are available but due to advanced technology this security systems can be tampered easily. They are not capable for providing real time analysis of the scenario. Sirens which are been used can be easily disabled. So real time analysis is mandatory for advanced security purpose. This real time system avail us the feature of calling the user when an intruder is detected. The main aim of this work is to build a car security phone calling using atmega 328. The objectives of the study are:
- To build the system prototype
- To provide high security and prevention in automobiles.
- To save properties from getting lost.
- To alert the user through phone call when an intruder is detected.
1.4 Scope of the study
The scope of this work covers building a car security phone calling using door pin sensors, a microcontroller unit - Arduino Uno board (Atmega 328) and a SIM300 GSM module. Arduino Uno is the processing and controlling unit of this system which receives and processes the data from all the components. The GSM unit act as an interface between Arduino and user’s mobile and is responsible for communication between them.
1.5 Significance of the study
This project will serve as a means of providing a reliable security system for a vehicle which helps in safeguarding the vehicle. It involves wireless communication for real time monitoring of the vehicle with low power consumption.
This study will serve as a means of providing high security in automobiles thereby reducing the level of theft.
As a student, this device will serve as a means of becoming familiar with an Arduino thereby learning how to interface arduino with GSM.
CHAPTER FIVE
5.1 Conclusion
This final verdict on this project is its evolution as an accomplished system with ingredients such as social relevance and accountability to enhance its image. This project has every possibilities of expansion in different dimensions creating new possibilities and thinking and can be subjected to various changes in order to provide best possible control mechanism to the system. In lieu of the fact that the communication sector in India is developing immaculately connecting each and every corner of the nation mobile communication is tipped to be an integral part of it. To end with the objective of the project has been fulfilled that is to be developed into an integrated system which can sense and control the ignition of the vehicle and in the course of being developed into a product it aims at redefining the vehicle theft con trol system.
5.2 Recommendation
This system offers many advantages with respect to other car security systems since the system employed the Arduino Uno microcontroller. It is low cost, simple, flexible, and easy to be installed and communicated. . It is also designed to be expandable with more functions to be added to the system by using more input and output pins of the Arduino Uno board.
I recommend that this work should be researched more by future scholars as there are only but few of this work that has been researched on. There are many other forms of car security that are more advanced and be worked on.
Also, I recommend that every car user should endeavor to own or install a car security in their cars because; it is very effective and relevant.
Before fitting this or any other car security to your vehicle - carefully consider both the safety implications of its possible failure - and the legal consequences of installing a device that could cause an accident. If you decide to proceed - you'll need to use the highest standard of materials and workmanship.
Remember that the relay MUST be large enough to handle the current required by your ignition system. Choose one specifically designed for automobiles - it will be protected against the elements and will give the best long-term reliability.
