CHAPTER ONE
1.0      INTRODUCTION
Communication has always been and still is an important aspect of daily living. More than ever before, its important is more interrelated than in the past, due to the development of transportation and information technology (IT). Not only this, industrial unrest that is evident today underscores this point. Besides, the term generation gap signifies failure in communication between various age groups in the society. Evidence all around us and our own personal experience have shown that successful communication is not easy even though very desirable.
Communication involves a person or people trying to pass across a message to a person or people about a person. Same people or thing different categories of people practice the act of communication. The government of a nation to its populace, the teacher to his students, the pastor to his church members, the sellers to the buyers etc. However, not every communication is effective. To avoid creating a gap in communication it is good to note that no matter how powerful or weighty a message is, it must not be presented in unclear terms.

1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Communication is an essential tool for co-existence; we will find it difficult to come together as regarding the multiple tribes without communication. Communication is one of the tools that hold a societies together people begging to modify and end relationship by communication with one another. Communication is the channel of influencing, the mechanism of change, it effectiveness could mean the accomplishment of an organizations objective. One of the communication remarks often made is the lack of effective communication which is the major problem facing most  organizations if the cost of industrial unrest is taken into consideration value of communication can be seen in its fair perspective.
In the past, organizations have measured the effectiveness of their communication primarily, in terms of how well it was filling it story.
Currently however, there is an increasing recognition if the importance and value of communication in term of obtaining feed back from the employees. Communication is the only approach to the development of marginal understanding between the management and employees. Without marginal understanding, there is no communication.

1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The study aims at highlighting critically the impact of effective communication in the achievement of an organizational goal. There is need to know that clarity of good communication is essential to the fulfillment of all those who committed their working lives to it. The problem however, is that scanty research has been carried out in this area consequently, this research sought to answer the research question.

1.3 OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY
1. To determine the impediment of ineffective communication and suggest ways of eliminating them.
2. To compare and contrast the influence with other studies already made in Allies Company.
3. To examine whether such influence can study the test of time and the performance of their workers in an organization

1.5 RESEARCH QUESTIONS
The research questions to be answered are as follows:

  1. Is there any significant relationship between group communication and job satisfaction?
  2. Is there any relationship between group communication and organizational growth?
  3. Is there any relationship between group communication and organizational efficiency?

1.6 SCOPE  OF THE STUDY
The scope of the paper is intended to cover what actually constitutes good communication and how Nigeria a MTN communication PLCcan apply it and therefore, it is being restricted to MTN Nigeria due to the insufficient time allowed for the study.

1.7 LIMITATION OF THE STUDY
This project is limited to the communication system of an organization (MTN telecommunications limited, Ilorin), with assessing the impact of effective communication on organizational growth. It is limited to this because of the pressure of time and considering the fact that the academic aspect of this course has to be fulfilled along side with the project.
More so, the non availability of resources and fund, these are the major constraints to the research as it is that the key word in the project topic “communication” is a wider topic on its own

1.8 DEFINITION OF TERMS
COMMUNICATION: Barreud Barrel and Diary a stanner defined communication as the transmission of information, ideas, emotions, skills etc by the use of symbols, words, pictures, figure and graphs. It is the act or process of transmission that is usually called communication.
ORGANIZATION: it can be defined as a collection of people who associate themselves for a common purpose
TRANSMITTER: it is the name of a person who hitches a communication by sending a message
MESSAGE:  it is the subject matter of communication
CHANNEL: it is the value of communication
MEDIUM: it is the means of communication
ENCODER: it is the person who packages the message in such a way that it would be understood by the receiver.

5.2 CONCLUSION
From the analysis of the employees, MTN plc on communication practice in the company, the following conclusions have been made.
Communication is the striving that joins superiors and subordinate to make meaningful suggestions to management which are taken into consideration in policy formulation. They are likely to have a sense of belonging and feel inclined to work hard to see that management objectives are achieved. The analysis of the respondent also related that communication is an indispensable instrument for effecting changes in organization. It was stressed that communication is used to introduce better way of carrying out the activities of the organization. The research also lead to the conclusion that an improvement in the quality of communication in an organization and the organized approach in eradicating the language barrier to effective communication will make employees work more effectively and efficiently towards the maximum production of the organization.
Inspire of the above explanation, the quality of communication in an organization may not be good enough to achieve the purpose of management In an organization like MTN Plc, this is because majority of the respondents reveals that management communication gets to them promptly only sometimes for the more it is uncertain whether any personnel are specially trained to transmit information to employees and answer their questions as were observed during the collection of data for this thesis.

5.3 RECOMMENDATIONS
The achievement of the objectives of any organization depends on the ability of it workers to perform well if they know what to do and do so and have the knowledge of the environment which give a sense of belonging. All of these are accomplished by good communication.
Having discovered that communication determines to a large extent the success of the management team and based on my findings, I will make the following recommendations.

  1. Special attention should be given to the provision of timely information so that employees will have information at the time as it is require for action. Also efforts should be made to eliminate bureaucratic bottle necks which result to delay in communication.
  2. Management must not underestimate information regardless of it length. They should help in those things which management attaches less importance to and which are of great importance to employees. From my personal interview held with some members of staff, regular meetings need to be a day-to-day matter in the organization.
  3. Information passed should be sent through the appropriate medium. The correct choices of media for giving information promote the acceptance of the particular information.
  4. Avenue for regular cross department interaction should be maintained so that new innovative ideas of others can be utilized.
  5. Individuals can learn about the non-verbal one that transmits to others by watching films (without sound). This type of exercise point out dramatically to people how they use facial expression and gesture to communicate and how sometimes the word they send. It is also possible to learn general principle about non-verbal one that might help in varieties of setting.
  6. All information received by the management in an organization should be closely addressed. Every manager should sell obligated to seed the grapevine with accurate information going on within the organization by going to places personally or through a trusted staff member or secretary on the company’s grapevine
  7. Although attempts have been made to reduce the effects of noise as barrier to communication. Management should make a concerted effort to unnecessary distracting when passing information to the employees.
  8. The principle of communication should be made as practical as possible. Management should be brief and concise when constructing any type of information that is intended to be communicated.
