AN APPRAISAL OF LIQUIDITY PROBLEMS IN COMMERCIAL BANK IN NIGERIA(A CASE STUDY OF FIRST BANK OF NIG PLC): This study is aimed act appraising the liquidity  problems in commercial banks in Nigeria with a problem in commercial banks in Nigeria  with a view of determining how these problem  affects commercial banking business as well as determining  whether the policies imposed by the central bank has actually solved the liquidity problem of commercials banks or not.  In doing this we want to classify the period under review (1980- 1989) in the Pre-SFEM period and the Post-SFEM period. On other words the study interns to discuss the Pre-SFEM and Post-SFEM experience of banks and offer useful suggestion as how to these problem could be alleviated if not eradicated.
For this purpose an empyreal survey and history research was carried on and the statistical tool used is percentages.  The source of data for this study is primary and secondary sources. While the primary source consists of questionnaires and oral interview the secondary source is in the form of books journals and news papers. The research revealed that prior to the introduction of the structural.  Adjustment programme with the second tier foreign exchange (SFEM) as its main feature the structural adjustment programme (SAP) brought about the present liquidity crutch in banking system.  It was further found out that both excess liquidity and shortage of liquidity affect the banks loans and advance as well as their profits.  Further more it was observed.
That the policies imposed by the central bank have not solved the  (excess and shortage ) liquidity problem of commercial banks. As a result of these it is suggested among others that banks should intensify their efforts   towards acquiring more deposit-  drive for deposits (as it is popularly know )in order to alleviate the present problem of liquidity shortage in system. More so there should be effective supervision of the follicles impose by the central bank to combat the liquidity problems of commercial banks to ensure that the policies are adequate implement other measure to alleviate either the excess or shortage of liquidity problem include adjustment of interest rate adjustment interest ratio, diversification of commercial banking service establishment of more rural banks to mobilize rural saving and so on. Mortgage bank is faced with serious problems and these problems are growing at an alarming rate for the purpose of this project critical analysis of these problems is needed and likely solution to the problem should not be left untouched. This research work will basically treat this topic as related to the impact of mortgage bank in housing delivery in Nigeria; also the remedies of the mortgage against mortgage personally shall be mentioned in the research work. In developing countries among important factors influencing housing provision, finance is one of the most critical. This is the case with Nigeria and in particular in large urban centers of which lagos is one. The study is therefore an investigation on the structure and challenges confronting housing finance efforts of primary mortgage institutions in Nigeria. The research objectives include the examination of housing delivery policies and finance in Nigeria. The study also examines the structure of primary mortgage institutions (PMIS) in the study area, housing funding products and strategies by the primary mortgage institutions and investigated the problems and challenges confronting the operations of the Primary mortgage institutions in Nigeria. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has brought unprecedented changes and transformation to academic libraries and information services. Taking into cognizance the recent trends in ICT and the Nigerian situation, this work elicits the impact of ICT in Nigerian University Libraries. The primary objectives were to ascertain the level of automation, to determine the usefulness of ICT resources, the effectiveness of ICT resources, the required skills in using ICT resources and the factors militating against the effective use of ICT. John Harris Library, University of Benin and Benson Idahosa University Library, both in Edo State of Nigeria were used as case study. The survey research design was employed and the instrument used for data collection was the Questionnaire. Simple tables and percentages were used to analyze the data collected. The research work revealed that both University Libraries are automated computerized and that they apply Strategic Library Automation Management (SLAM); only three divisions of the libraries are computerized/automated which are Readers Services Division, Technical Services Division and Collection Development division, the major reason attached to the use of ICT resources was for information storage and retrieval, the ICT resources mostly used are CD-ROM, online database, World Wide Web and the Internet. The study also revealed that ICT has an enormous impact based on its effectiveness. Inadequate training and retraining of staff by management inadequate funding, epileptic power supply and lack of search skills are the major factors militating against the effective use of ICT in Nigerian University libraries.
