The concept of wireless power transfer was introduced by Nikolas Tesla. This paper deals with an advanced Wireless Electrical Power Transfer System (AWEPTS) which is the transmission of electrical power from a source to a consuming device without using wired conductors. Also work is done on the latest technology of the wireless power transfer which provides longer range for the transferring electrical power in a wireless mode. A winding of four turns made up of hollow copper conductor is used as a transmitting coil which is reliable for long range transmission of electrical power. Two MOSFETs are used to increase the frequency of the input power in the range of MHz and then transmitted through hollow conductor coil. This power is then received by another coil which has more number of turns and smaller diameter. The range in which power is transferred successfully was found to be more than 2m for LED bulb and 2m for small motor driven fan as a load.

1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Advanced Wireless Electrical Power Transfer System (AWEPTS) is a term which includes several technologies for transmission of power without connecting manmade conductors. There are several techniques which are developed for transmission of electricity over long distance wirelessly. It is a generic term that refers to a number of different power transmission technologies that use time-varying electromagnetic fields. In wireless power transfer system power is transmitted from a source (like main power line) by an electromagnetic field across an intervening space to one or more receiver device, where it is converted back in electrical power and utilized.
There were many difficulties in past which were faced by designers and engineers like, the continuity of supplied power, recharging batteries, optimizing the location of sensors, and dealing with rotating or moving parts. So, we needed a technology by which we can overcome these challenges and wireless power transmission is such a considerable technology for these challenges.
As it is known that, Wireless Power Transmission from the time of Tesla has been an underdeveloped technology. For the wireless power distribution system Tesla always tried his best to introduce this technology for whole world. But he was unable to complete this task, because of lack of funding and technology of that time. The main aim of this work is to build an advanced wireless power transfer circuit. 1.2 PROBLEM STATEMENT The invention of this device brought solution to problem seen in the wired mobile charger and introduce the following advantages.
- Protected connections – No corrosion when the electronics are all enclosed, away from water or oxygen in the atmosphere. Less risk of electrical faults such as short circuit due to insulation failure, especially where connections are made or broken frequently.
- Low infection risk – For embedded medical devices, transmission of power via a magnetic field passing through the skin avoids the infection risks associated with wires penetrating the skin.
- Durability – Without the need to constantly plug and unplug the device, there is significantly less wear and tear on the socket of the device and the attaching cable.
- Increased convenience and aesthetic quality – No need for cables
The main aim of this study is to build a device that will transfer power wirelessly within a small range which can be used to power portable appliances or for charging rechargeable batteries etc. The objectives of the study are:
- To transfer electric power wirelessly with a short range.
- To this a wireless power supplying device that can be used to charge devices.
- To become familiar with Nikolas Tesla law.
This device was built using winding of four turns made up of hollow copper conductor is used as a transmitting coil which is reliable for long range transmission of electrical power. Two MOSFETs from the circuit are used to increase the frequency of the input power in the range of MHz and then transmitted through hollow conductor coil. This power is then received by another coil which has more number of turns and smaller diameter which produces the output that powers a dc load.
1.5 ADVANTAGES OF THE STUDY
- It gives the human comfort as there is no chording or wiring problem, so mobility is easier.
- There is no problem of power failure and extensive heating.
- Cost of overall system decreases due to no uses of wires.
- Overall efficiency increases due to decrease in the power loss.
- It offers no corrosion as there is no exposure to the atmosphere which is Ecofriendly[10].
- It offers ranges of power levels and separation distance between coils.
- It offers convenient, reliability, high efficiency, low cost at the same time.
- WPT methods uses the electromagnetic radiation for power transfer and the main effect of electromagnetic wave is its biological impact which harms human beings and animal.
- Biological impact of inductive coupling and resonance coupling is far less than compared to microwave power transmission technique
- There is also a limitation of separation distance and power capacity.
- Interference of microwave with other communication system.
- Initial cost is very high for implementing WPT system
- Near-field energy transfer
- Electric automobile charging Static and moving
- Consumer electronics
- Industrial purposes Harsh environment Far-field energy transfer
- Solar Power Satellites
- Energy to remote areas
- Can broadcast energy
As we all know that no human effort to achieve a set of goals goes without difficulties, certain constraints were encountered in the course of carrying out this project and they are as follows:-
- Difficulty in information collection: I found it too difficult in laying hands of useful information regarding this work and this course me to visit different libraries and internet for solution.
- Difficulty in parts gathering: I found it too difficult when gathering electronics parts used for the prototype.
- Financial Constraint: Insufficient fund tends to impede the efficiency of the researcher in sourcing for the relevant materials, literature or information and in the process of data collection (internet).
- Time Constraint: The researcher will simultaneously engage in this study with other academic work. This consequently will cut down on the time devoted for the research work.
To achieve the aim and objectives of this work, the following are the steps involved:
- Study of the previous work on the project so as to improve it efficiency.
- Draw a block diagram.
- Test for continuity of components and devices,
- Design was carried out.
- Studying of various component used in circuit.
- Construct the circuit.
- Finally, the whole device was cased and final test was carried out.
The various stages involved in the development of this project have been properly put into five chapters to enhance comprehensive and concise reading. In this project thesis, the project is organized sequentially as follows:
